What is it
Availability of region-wise load shedding schedules online. Categorized based on cities and regions. One should also be able to subscribe to notifications (email & RSS) for changes in the schedule.

Why is it needed

I think it will help an average resident of Pakistan. Ideally, it should be a project by LESCO, IESCO, KESC, etc. If they can’t manage (I am almost certain they can’t), a community driven website can be created. A little effort will be required to mobilize people to contribute about their home regions.

A community driven website would never be authentic enough to drive it all, I mean, that would really need good posters to erect something substantially informative.

Plus, the schedule themselves keep changing. Like from yesterday, my hometown Ghotki is going through these twenty minute on-off cycles in morning and evening. Incomprehensible. Previously they were on one hour cycle. It would become random at times too.

I am highly skeptic that this would work, but things have happened so maybe! We should rather try producing more power for ourselves instead of logging when it is not available. Think solar?

Makes a lot of sense Rakesh .. especially the accuracy part for a community driven website. This is the reason I suggested it should be done by the authorities.

about whether this would work or not: May be it won’t in the beginning, but sooner or later we will have to have this. The load shedding bit will stay until and unless we have alternate energy sources. So we are talking about years (or may be decades) here. Isn’t that true? or someone please tell me that i am being too pessimistic.

Don’t expect anything good or anything that could add value to anyone’s life in Pakistan. It’s going to get worst!
